This Privacy Policy explains what information TAJ Fundraising Corporation ("TAJ Fundraising," "we," "us," or "our") collects, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
It applies to everyone who interacts with us: visitors to tajfundraising.com (the "Platform"), donors, campaign organizers and participants, scholarship applicants, affiliates in The Departure Lounge, and anyone who contacts us or signs up to hear from us.
This Policy should be read alongside our Policies, Terms & Conditions. By using the Platform or participating in any TAJ Fundraising program, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
TAJ Fundraising Corporation is a Michigan-based for-profit corporation. We are not a nonprofit, charitable foundation, or 501(c)(3) entity.
We collect only what we need to run campaigns, process donations, deliver thank-you gifts, administer our programs, and respond to you.

Information collected automatically
When you visit the Platform we may collect your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, pages viewed, time spent on pages, the site that referred you, and general location at city or region level. This is used in aggregate to understand how the site is used and to improve it.
What we do not collect
We do not store your full payment card number or CVV — those go directly to Stripe. We do not collect Social Security numbers or government ID numbers from donors. We do not knowingly collect biometric data, precise geolocation, health information, or information about your race, religion, or political beliefs.
We use the information we collect to:
Review, approve, and administer fundraising campaigns
Process donations and issue receipts
Verify identity and banking details before a campaign launches
Disburse campaign proceeds by ACH transfer
Administer the L.O.V.E. F.U.N.D.S. Scholarship, The Celebration Lounge, The Departure Lounge, and Treasures With Purpose
Deliver donor thank-you gifts and rewards through our fulfillment partners
Respond to your questions, requests, and support enquiries
Send campaign updates, reminders, and program information you have asked to receive
Detect and prevent fraud, chargebacks, and prohibited activity
Improve the Platform, our content, and our programs
Meet our legal, tax, accounting, and Michigan charitable-solicitation obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, trade, or license it to anyone for their own marketing purposes.
What we collect. When you opt in to our SMS program we collect your mobile phone number, the date and time you gave consent, the form or method you used to give it, and a record of the messages we send you and your replies.
How you opt in. We send text messages only to people who have given express written consent. There is no other way to join the program. You opt in by entering your mobile number into one of our web forms and ticking an unchecked consent checkbox before submitting. The checkbox is never pre-ticked, and submitting the form without ticking it means we will not text you. The consent language reads:
"I agree to receive calls, emails and text messages from TAJ Fundraising. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase or donation."
You may also opt in verbally during a scheduled call, in which case we record your consent with the date and time it was given.
We never purchase, rent, or import phone number lists, and we never add a number without the consent described above.
How we use it. Your mobile number is used only to send messages relating to your campaign, your donation, your scholarship application, your rewards, or your enquiry — including campaign confirmations and updates, onboarding and verification steps, disbursement notifications, thank-you gift and reward delivery, replies to your questions, and occasional information about TAJ Fundraising programs. We do not use it for any other purpose.
Message frequency. Message frequency varies based on your activity and the stage of your campaign. You will receive no more than 8 messages per month, and most recipients receive between 2 and 6.
Cost. Message and data rates may apply. These charges are set by your mobile carrier and are your responsibility. We do not charge you for receiving our messages.
How to opt out. Reply STOP to any message at any time, or email [email protected]. We will send one confirmation message and no further marketing texts. Opting out is free and takes effect immediately. If you opt out we keep a minimal record of that opt-out so we can honour it and avoid contacting you again.
How to get help. Reply HELP to any message, or email [email protected].
Carrier limitations. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier's network availability and is not guaranteed. Our program supports major US carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Boost, Cricket and Metro by T-Mobile.
Consent is not a condition. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of donating, running a campaign, applying for a scholarship, or participating in any TAJ Fundraising program. You may work with us entirely by email if you prefer.
Sharing your mobile information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Information sharing with subcontractors who provide support services on our behalf, such as customer service or message delivery, is permitted; these providers may only use the information to deliver the service we have asked them to perform.
If you give us your email address we may send you campaign updates, donation receipts, scholarship and program information, reward and gift fulfillment details, and occasional news about TAJ Fundraising programs.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, or by emailing [email protected]. We will still send transactional emails you need — such as donation receipts, campaign agreements, and disbursement notices — because these relate to a transaction you entered into.
All donations are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. Stripe handles your card details directly under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not store your full payment card information.
Campaign organizers provide banking details during onboarding so we can disburse campaign proceeds by ACH transfer. This information is collected and verified before a campaign is approved to launch, is used solely to pay out campaign proceeds, and is stored securely with access limited to the personnel who need it.
We keep your information confidential and share it only in the limited circumstances below.
Service providers acting for us. We use trusted providers to operate the Platform — payment processing (Stripe), customer relationship and communications software, email and text message delivery, reward and gift fulfillment partners, banking and ACH services, and website hosting. They process information strictly on our instructions, only to the extent needed to provide their service, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Campaign organizers. If you donate to a campaign, we may share your name and donation amount with the organizing group so they can thank and acknowledge their supporters. We do not share your payment details with them. If you prefer to remain anonymous to the organizing group, email us at [email protected].
Reward and gift partners. To deliver a restaurant cash card or other reward, we share only the details needed for fulfillment, such as your name and delivery address.
Legal and regulatory. We may disclose information where required by law, court order, subpoena, or regulatory request, including obligations under the Michigan Charitable Organizations and Solicitations Act and requests from the Michigan Attorney General's Charitable Trust Section. We may also disclose information where we believe in good faith it is necessary to investigate fraud, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights or safety of any person.
Business transfer. If our business is sold, merged, or reorganized, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any resulting change to how your information is handled.
We never share mobile opt-in data or SMS consent with any third party, as described in Section 04.
The Platform uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working properly, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use our pages, and measure the performance of our campaigns and content.
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Turning off cookies may affect how parts of the Platform function. Where technically supported, our Platform responds to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
We keep information for as long as needed to deliver our programs and to meet our legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.
Donation and campaign records are retained for at least seven years to satisfy tax, accounting, and Michigan charitable-solicitation requirements
Banking and disbursement records are retained for the same period
Contact and marketing information is kept until you ask us to delete it or unsubscribe
Opt-out records are kept indefinitely, in minimal form, so that we can continue to honour your opt-out
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or render it anonymous.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. The Platform uses encrypted connections, payment data is handled by Stripe rather than stored by us, and access to personal information is limited to the people who need it to do their work.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Platform is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform, donate, run a campaign, or consent to receive messages from us. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 18.
Student information in the L.O.V.E. F.U.N.D.S. Scholarship. Scholarship applications are submitted by adult activity leaders on behalf of students — students do not apply directly and do not create accounts with us. Where an application includes information about a student who is a minor, the activity leader is responsible for obtaining the permission of that student's parent or legal guardian before submitting it.
We use student information solely to evaluate and administer the scholarship application. We do not use it for marketing, we do not send messages to students, and we do not share it with third parties except where necessary to administer or award the scholarship, or where required by law.
A parent or legal guardian may contact us at [email protected] to review, correct, or request deletion of information about their child, and we will act on that request unless we are legally required to retain it.
Community Spotlight and photographs. Where a campaign submits photographs or stories that include minors, the submitting organization confirms it has obtained the necessary permissions from parents or guardians before sending them to us. If you believe an image or story involving a minor has been published without proper consent, email [email protected] and we will remove it promptly while we review.
You may at any time:
Opt out of text messages by replying STOP to any message
Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any email
Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of information that is inaccurate or incomplete
Request deletion of your personal information, subject to records we are legally required to keep
Withdraw consent for any communication at any time
Ask to remain anonymous to a campaign organizer in respect of a donation
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] or reach us through our Contact page. We will respond within a reasonable period and will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, including the right to know what categories of information we collect and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. As stated above, we do not sell personal information.
TAJ Fundraising conducts fundraising activities exclusively within the State of Michigan. Campaign organizers must be Michigan-based individuals or organizations. Donors may be located outside Michigan, but campaigns are organized and operated within Michigan only.
Information we collect is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the United States, you understand your information will be handled in the United States under United States law.
The Platform may link to third-party websites we do not control, including payment, reward, and partner sites. We are not responsible for their content, privacy policies, or practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit from ours.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Revised" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated more directly where appropriate. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
